The Next Chapter

Well, do you think it's about time I updated my blog? It's only been since the end of May since I've written here...figured I'd better get on the stick and get this done. Hope everyone had a great summer and fall. I'm in the process of a move to northeast Nebraska. I'm staying with some great friends til I find a place and am getting used to being 30 miles away from Walmart. My son celebrated his 34th birthday yesterday in Afghanistan. His birthday present from Uncle Sam? They should be coming home soon...I thank God for his safety while he's been over there. It will be good to see him and Sarah and Hannah at Christmas. Well enough for now...will try not to stay away so long next time....W.

WANDA'S UPDATE

Well, it's been a while since I've been here....it shouldn't have been so long. My granddaughter is growing like a weed..I miss her so along with her mom and her dad, who's serving God and his country in Afghanistan...he's such a blessing. I went to my home church group tonight...what a wonderful group I'm a part of...we're always there for each other and have a lot of laughs together in the process. God has really blessed me since I've been here in KCK.

So much has changed in the last few months...my job has totally changed and is taking me a lot of getting used to...each day is a learning experience. I've started questioning the direction of my life....it's in God's hands, so I shouldn't be as concerned as I am, as it helps me grow in the Lord.

For those of you who like a bargain, here are a few around KCK...for a $9.95 oil change, get in touch with me and I'll tell you where...just had mine done last week. A great little grocery store with great bargains and a few different locations is Happy Foods Supermarkets with locations that I know of on Leavenworth Rd and K-32. Check it out.

Well, that's all for tonight...I'll try not to stay away so long.

IT'S BEEN A WHILE...

I haven't posted in quite a while....Hannah is getting bigger and will be dedicated Sunday when she's 3 months old....it's not going to be possible for me to make the trip, but i'll be there in spirit and can't wait to see the pictures of her day. I miss them all so much...and am very proud of my family in NC. I take off Sunday for Omaha to work for a week and hopefully to have a successful week up there. I'm looking forward to seeing some friends again and doing some genealogy searching on the side while I'm there too. Anyways, til next time...God Bless...LWR

HOME

Well, it's good to be home, though I've loved being in Omaha working these past two weeks. Have met so many great people and though it was work, have had a great time. Now I'm off on the next leg of my adventure...a week with my new granddaughter and oh yeah, her parents...can't wait... I hate the getting ready part, I have to unpack, do laundry and repack all in about 24 hours..bummer. My birds don't know who I am, I've been on the go so much...I'll get home from North Carolina on a Monday and have to leave out the next am for Omaha again...I'm thankful I'm able to go as much as I have been doing. God is blessing and gas prices are way down...I love it. Now I don't have to feel guilty for driving a few extra miles. Well, I have to get ready for church...I've missed my church family this past week...it will be good to see everyone. Til next time....Happy Thankful Christmas....

UPDATE

Well, it's about time I updated my blog...over two months is too long a time. I'm waiting for the birth of my precious granddaughter, Hannah soon. Can't wait...

We're soon at the end of another year, how time does fly..it will soon be two years that I've been in Kansas City. Living here has been an adventure that I'm continuing on. I've gotten to know more of the people as I do my insurance job and have found that the values in the Midwest are like the ones I was raised with and the lifestyle here seems to evolve slower than in the East...which is a blessing. It's too bad that other areas in the US have forgotten a lot of the things that I see here in Kansas and Nebraska. The US would be a lot safer place if people remembered these values..man did I get on a soapbox or what.

I'm waiting to take a trip to North Carolina for Thanksgiving and am looking forward to it. I'll try to update again soon....W.

One Day At A Time....

This has been another week for the books....and another test of my faith...I actually look forward to these times, as it gives glory to my DAD and hopefully lets people see Him work through me. My clutch went in my car yesterday, at a time that I really needed to work....this will work out I know, as He sees fit. It could be a lot worse and I could have been stranded somewhere, but God has put a network of people around that have helped me. It also freed me up to help out today at my church office. I've enjoyed the afternoon and got to see something of how things work around here. It also gives me a chance to give something back to God and the church that has done so much for me in the short time I've been here. Well I suppose I should end this and get ready to leave. Oh, on a happier note, I was given a handicapped cockatiel last Saturday...though the only handicap he has is the one I can see...as far as he's concerned, he doesn't have one...maybe that's the way we need to look at others, not how we see them, but how they perceive themselves.

Till next time....Hannah's Nana

THE WEEK THAT WAS......

This has been a week I won't forget....I lost a cockatiel that I had just gotten and the next day, I lost a close friend to cancer. It's a blessing in the sense that Connie is feeling no pain anymore. she was a great person and had a smile that caused her whole face to light up. The world is a sadder place without her in it, but I know that she's in a better place and is cracking jokes with her dad. The Lord has blessed me with another week I've gotten through safely, even though I've ended it with a flat tire. I have great Christian friends that are there when I need them. Gas has come down in a few places which is another blessing...hope it continues decreasing. Got to talk to my son today....he and his family are the greatest blessing I have after my salvation. I know he's counting the days til he and Sarah are together again on a daily basis. In the meantime, I have my parakeet, Ozzie to keep me company til I decide if I'm going to venture into cockatiel land again. Til another time....Wanda

SPRING IS HERE!!!

Wow, wasn't yesterday great? I worked in Atchison, KS in the afternoon and the weather was so beautiful. The crape myrtle trees were in bloom....beautiful. I love it out here...imagine that there's still snow on the ground in upstate NY. When I go home in a few weeks, hopefully spring will have sprung there, by then. We have clouds and about 10 degrees less today, but it's still better than freezing...right? Going to work south of KCK today...will enjoy that. Have a great day...til later....W.

Continuing On....

Well, I'm trying to update my blog on a more timely basis. I'm gearing up to start on a new journey, even though it's a late start. I purchased the book I've been hearing about..."A NEW EARTH." I'm going to do Oprah's website challenge and see what all the hoopla is about...anyone who knows me, knows that I don't spend money on a book unless I've really thought about it. Time will tell..

On to my next issue...I'm going home in a month for two weeks....yeah. Looking forward to it, seeing family and friends, along with the main reason I'm returning...cleaning out my storage unit...which I'm not looking forward to...oh well. On the upside, my mom is flying out the day before Mom's Day and will drive back with me...the neatest thing is she'll get to see her grandson preach. I can't wait. We're going to drive back to NY and take our time..I'll update our travels as we go and keep everyone posted. I'm so looking forward to this.

Til next time...W.

April Update......

Well, I suppose it's time that I update my blog. Lots has happened since Dec. The biggest thing is that I'me going to be a Nana next fall....yeah...if you go to my blog links and click on Jay's Blog...you can keep up with things...so check it out. My career may be changing as my company was sold as of a few days...hopefully this will mean nothing but good things for me in the future, with possibly better career opportunites. On another note, I may be able to go home for a few weeks in May and see my family and take care of some things that are long overdue. Well, that's it for now...going to start my day and hope for some sunshine...

A Kansas Ice Storm....A Blessing in Disguise

Well, for most people today, it was an icy, cold day, with many people, including myself, without power. Mine went out at 10:30 pm last night...not returing til about 6 pm tonight. It turned out to be a blessing in disguise for me. I got to spend a portion of the day with my dtr in law for a girl's day out with a day at a salon, complete with a hair style each, followed by lunch. To top the day off, I spent the afternoon with my son and dtr in law enjoying fellowship, sharing, & supper, plus a great movie. Returning home, I warmed my apartment and ran upstairs to spend a few minutes with my neighbors, checking out their Christmas decorations. So fellowship with family and friends at this blessed time of year brings joy to my heart! May you have joy in yours....

A NEW BEGINNING

This is the start of a new beginning in my life. I know my trip may take me thru a desert for a time. I do know that God will be there for me no matter what happens. I hope to come out a better person, closer to the Lord. As some of you may know, I moved to the Chicago area the first part of April. I've transfered my job and though my start out here may have been for the wrong reason, but I sense that the Lord has engineered my move to help me lean on Him more and less on myself. I know I have some "desert time" ahead of me, so please keep me in your prayers, that I'm more attuned to God's direction in my life.
